
About Jiin Kim
Korean pianist Jiin Kim is renowned for her strong technical control and a refined sense of emotional expressivity. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed extensively across the United States, as well as in Korea, the Netherlands, Germany, and Portugal. Jiin has received numerous awards at competitions including Harrison Winter Piano Competition, William Knabe International Competition, Yale Gordon Competition, Korea Young Artist Competition, and Hong Kong-Asia Open Competition. Jiin has recently selected to participate in 2025 Chopin International Piano Competition, preliminary round.
Her recent engagements highlight her versatility as both a soloist and chamber musician, featuring performances with the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players, and appearances at the Steinways Series of Silo Hill, Sarasota Music Festival, Festival Musicalp, International Holland Music Session, and Obidos International Piano Festival. In 2024, she was honored as a fellow at the Gilmore Piano Festival. Jiin has also participated in masterclasses with distinguished pianists and pedagogues, including Paul Lewis, Piotr Anderszewski, Christopher Elton, Pascal Roge, Boris Berman, Robert Levin, Richard Goode, Mikhail Voskresensky, Oxana Yablonskaya, and Rebecca Penneys, among others.
With a demonstrated interest in new music, Jiin has been featured in the New Music Series Studio 2021 concerts in Seoul and has also premiered new compositions at the Seoul International New Music Conference and Joongang Music Concours.
Jiin began playing piano at the age of three and quickly developed a passion for music. She graduated summa cum laude from Seoul National University, where she studied with Ick Choo Moon. Jiin earned her Master of Music degree at Peabody Conservatory, where she received the Pauline Favine Memorial Award in Piano. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Peabody Conservatory, studying under Alexander Shtarkman and Ellen Mack with a full assistantship.
An active educator, Jiin teaches keyboard studies and minor lessons program at Peabody Conservatory. Additionally, she is a faculty member at the Peabody Preparatory.
